Wheeling Hospital – Wheeling, WV

KMA Design has created a signage and graphics program for the new addition (tower 5) at Wheeling Hospital along with a replacement signage program for the exterior site and the existing facility. As the first phase of installation, the 20′-0″ cross with blue halo illumination and the Wheeling Hospital “W” logo were installed on January 13, 2012 by signage fabricators, Big Apple Visual Group, New York, NY. The two signage elements are complemented by the stair tower’s stained glass window treatments that ascends the full height of the seven story tower.

Excela Health Norwin Commons – Norwin, PA

As a part of the Excela Health System, Norwin Commons is an independent structure located in Westmoreland County and utilized by the system’s client base throughout the area. Norwin Commons will house, ambulatory surgery and physician practices. Excela Health also owns Latrobe Hospital, Westmoreland Hospital and Frick Hospital in addition to other practices and clinics throughout the Westmoreland area.

Indiana University of Pennsylvania – Indiana, PA

KMA was hired to develop the interior and exterior signage master plan for the university located in Indiana, PA. IUP is a Pennsylvania state university. Working with the facilities management and administrative staff, KMA is designing a sign strategy to simplify wayfinding for the campus focusing on vehicular and pedestrian traffic flow and code compliance. The master plan is scheduled for completion in early summer 2012, with implementation being phased by the university soon thereafter.

Farmingdale State College – Farmingdale, NY

Hired as a sub-consultant to H2M architects and engineers, KMA is responsible for the design and master planning for a new exterior campus-wide signage system. Farmingdale State College is part of the state university system of New York (SUNY). KMA is familiar with SUNY as they have completed work at SUNY Old Westbury and Stony Brook both on Long Island. The project is currently in design.

Castle Rock Adventist Hospital – Castle Rock, CO

HuntonBrady Architects brought KMA on board to develop the interior and exterior signage and graphics package for the new freestanding health facility located in Castle Rock, Co near Colorado Springs. The signage is contextual with the vernacular of the architecture, which is reflective of the natural environment found in the area. Both dynamic and static forms of signage were incorporated into the signage package to complement the high-end design of the facility. The design was recently completed and construction on the site is scheduled to being in early 2012.

Florida Hospital – Tampa, FL

As a sub-consultant to HuntonBrady Architects, KMA was hired to develop the signage program for a multi-story renovation project at the Florida Hospital (formerly Tampa General) located in Tampa, FL. The project is in the schematic design phase.

City of Manassas Parking Garage – Manassas, VA

Manassas Parking Garage Entrance

The city of Manassas hired KMA Design to create an image and maximize visibility for the downtown parking structure, which was sorely under utilized. The addition of prominent signage hung high on the structure is intended to be seen by visitors attending park events and visiting downtown businesses and the city’s Civil War Museum. The project was completed in January 2012.

KMA has also designed the city’s wayfinding program and new gateway / entrance signs to celebrate the arrival to the city from various vantage points.

Gateway Clipper Fleet – Pittsburgh, PA

KMA was hired to develop a new branding strategy for the Gateway Clipper Fleet located in Pittsburgh, PA. The GCF has a rich history hosting tours, weddings and other events year round. Based along the Monongahela River in Station Square, the fleet consists of 5 boats, which are reminiscent of riverboats that frequented the area’s three rivers in years gone by.

A new logo, signage program for the entrance and dock is in the implementation phase with completion anticipated this spring. The boats will also be getting a facelift with new graphics and signage refurbishing their appeal to area residents and tourists alike soon thereafter.

Cherokee Nation Entertainment – Tulsa, OK

KMA has initiated work with the Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma on three casino projects including a Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The Hard Rock is located in Catoosa just outside of Tulsa. The new 10-story addition will house a gaming floor, ballroom and restaurant and bar among other amenities as well as an additional 98 hotel rooms. The project scope includes interior and exterior signage and graphics.
In addition, two new freestanding casinos are also being built in Ramona and Ft. Gibson, OK. Project completion is scheduled for the summer of 2012. Both of these facilities are replacement casinos located at the site of the existing smaller structures. The new casinos will have slots, a restaurant and lounge. Ft. Gibson is historically significant to the Cherokee Nation as the original fort was the first location where those displaced by the “Trail of Tears” arrived in Oklahoma Territory.

The Ramona site highlights the Cherokee involvement in the first oil strike in Oklahoma. The architecture is reminiscent of an oil well with its use of lighting and details relating to a funnel of oil rising from the ground to the ceiling.

Petersen Sports Complex – University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA

Petersen Sports Complex Entrance

The Petersen Sports Complex houses the Pitt Panthers baseball, softball and men’s and women’s soccer teams. This new complex also has a freestanding athletic building adjacent to the fields, concessions and grandstands. KMA design developed the custom signage and graphics program highlighting and celebrating the various sports using the facility. A customized donor recognition program displays full-scale sports figures located in the main gate plaza. The figures and donor panels are set on top of granite tile pavers with a sandblasted University seal to add interest and depth to the general ambiance of the space. The project was completed in the Spring of 2011.
