As a major donor and distinguished alumna of the University, Barbara Martin, CEO of KMA Design was asked to design a sculpture commemorating the numerous donors to the Health Sciences Center.
The structure is fabricated out of aluminum with names etched and filled to add contrast. The sinuating curves of the double helix allowed for the perfect location of major donor names twisting and turning with the movement of the work. Significant donors were placed on the horizontal bars and at a larger scale to highlight the hierarchy of gift value.
Smaller donations were placed on the circular surround that encompasses the base of the sculpture. The feature is up lighted from the base projecting a dramatic play of light and shadow as the one moves around the three-dimensional structure.
