The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, noted as the “Tribal Destination of the Year” in September 2012. The former Cherokee Casino Resort underwent major construction and branding change affecting wayfinding and signage identification for patrons of the facility. KMA Design was hired to develop a comprehensive interior and exterior signage system to enhance the new brand and assist patrons in locating the restaurants, entertainment and various amenities offered by the resort.
The casino and hotel signage with designed to match Hard Rock’s corporate and Cherokee Nation Entertainment branding standards. The challenge KMA faced was integrating Rock and Roll and the heritage of the Cherokee Nation into the sign program. Sign types for the casino and hotel included site and building entrance, public and back-of-house wayfinding signage, ADA compliant signage, graphic enhancements and marketing displays. To celebrate the rock and roll theme of Hard Rock, popular song lyrics were mounted along architectural walls and bulkheads. The lyrics were detailed using cut-out, halo-illuminated letters. Poker table identification blended traditional signage elements with guitar pick accents. Iconic rock star graphics were embedded into stairwells throughout the two levels of casino stairwells and on ceiling feature walls.
